In a manner of seconds, it’s been five years since my last post.
In that time, I moved to a new city, earned a MFA in poetry, lost some friends, found new ones, migrated to StoryGraph, adopted three animals and about twenty plants, started a new job, and got married. Whew, right?
I thought that I would never find the energy to come back to this space again. For a while, it felt like this blog consumed my life and I was either all in or all out. And for the last five years, I had to be all out. But lately, I’ve felt the itch.
You know the one.
I’ll read a really interesting book (most recently, Scythe by Neal Shusterman) and want to dissect it with all of you. The inverted plotlines, the POV switches, the series’ that just keep on going, all of it.
Going forward this blog will still be about books. But also about poetry, and science, and happiness, and maybe a little animal content too.
So hello again, if you’re still here after all these years. Welcome, if you’ve only just stumbled upon this space. I’m so glad you’re here.

Omg, Laura, it’s been so long! Welcome back, I can’t wait to read your posts again 🥰 I read Scythe a while back and really enjoyed it.

Thank you, Cas! I’m excited to be back too 🙂 I’ve really missed the community that comes from book blogging and also the space it gives me to think all the thoughts (out loud!) and feel all the feels. The pandemic had plenty to do with the time warp, I’m sure, but also it flew by for so many other reasons. It’s like, you look up and all of a sudden the Earth is in a different place in space. I’ll see you out there in the blogosphere!

Also, five years is somehow both a lot of time and not a lot of time? In any case, those are some huge changes, congrats on getting married and everything else!

omg it’s absolutely wild how I had this extremely random thought going “I wonder if Laura is still blogging” and then I just popped by and lo and behold – it’s good to see you again! Five years is such a long time and so much has happened – congrats on getting married and getting your MFA!

That’s so odd but I love it! The universe comes for us all 🙂 I’m so excited to be getting back in the swing of things and start writing in the blog space again! I missed all the bookish talk and I’m so excited to dig more into the issues that I really want to dissect at this point in my life.
