I saw this tag over at Fangirling misses and it was a… sort of open tag?  So I decided to do it anyway because it looked like so much fun and I just don’t like following rules… So here are the rules!

“List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Do not take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They do not have to be the “right” books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. Paste these instructions and tag 10 friends, including me, so I can see your list.”

This was… beyond difficult.  There are so many more I wanted to include but alas.  Here we go (in no particular order)!

The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien

I remember watching the movies and thinking Legolas was amazing.  So I decided to read the books and ended up loving them (I still have to read the last book)!  They were also my first real introduction to high fantasy.

Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson

This was the first (pretty sure) dystopian book I ever read and it introduced me to the world of dystopia!  It wasn’t a particularly fantastic book (it was very drawn out) but if I hadn’t had read it, I don’t know when I would have discovered dystopias!

The Dark Side of Truth by Gary Caruso

This is the first R&R book I ever read.  I didn’t even realize that R&R’s were a thing before Mr. Caruso contacted me!  So this was a big step 🙂

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

This series was amazing.  The way it flowed all into one long story but never got boring was fabulous!

Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

I read this for school last year and it really opened my eyes to philosophy and psychology.  This was also a huge stepping stone for me.

The Graceling Realm by Kristin Cashore

This was the first book about an assassin I ever read.  And now, assassin’s are one of my favorite subjects to read about!  Aaaannnnd it led me to Throne of Glass which is one of the best series’ ever written (in a manner of speaking)!!

The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

My brother actually introduced me to these books back when I was… eh 10 or 11?  I loved the entire series (I still have to read the most recent book that came out)!  These books are part of the reason I’m so addicted to reading!  They also lead to me reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan which is one of my honorable mentions!  Rick Riordan is now one of my favorite authors!

The Immortal Rules series by Julie Kagawa

I just finished this series and… wow.  It tackled the idea of morality and what makes us human beautifully!

North of Beautiful by Justina Chen

This book, like Wonder by R.J. Palacio, talked about ‘beauty’ and how our society creates images of beauty.  It’s such a warm and fuzzy book!

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

This book also introduced me to philosophy and psychology.  I read it a looooong time ago… maybe when I was 9 or 10?  I still remember it though!  It remains one of my favorites 🙂

So that’s it!  This is an open tag!
